Our Story...

Traveling down the Van der Stel Pass from the quaint little town of Botriver, you will find the Van der Westhuizen’s family farm Krakeelpoort Herberg in the heart of the van der Stel Pass Overberg Mountains.

Situated in a Mountain Pine forests, where they are starting to rehabilitate some of the natural fynbos after the fires. Wessie & Jen decided to build the first cottage , Rooi Assie from left over building materials from another project and now have 3 beautiful iconic cottages all unique in its own way. The dream was to up cycle these materials & create unique romantic/private rustic iconic getaway accommodation that blends into the natural beauty of the farm & forest. 

Using a mixture of wood, stone , glass & steel the cottages each with its own private wood fired mini-pool, is the perfect location to escape from your busy life.

The cottages are eco friendly, off the grid & WiFi free. Connect with your partner, explore the valley & reset your soul.

Our vision for you is to experience traditional farm style hospitality on a working farm in an unbelievably beautiful location with your special person/s, whilst creating memories for a lifetime.
